Abortion Advocacy Groups at 6 Catholic Universities

According to the Catholic Boston College web site:

“The Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ) at Boston College Law School promotes discussion, education, and advocacy on issues of reproductive freedom. LSRJ works on reproductive health and choice issues such as global family planning, comprehensive sex education, contraceptive equity and birth control options, safe, legal and accessible abortion…”

Analogous pro-abortion groups can be found at other Catholic universities, including DePaul University, Fordham University, Georgetown University, Santa Clara University and Seattle University.

The term “reproductive justice” is itself a mockery of justice, for it seeks not to respect, but to abolish true justice. Real justice bestows upon all the right to life, which abortion denies and tramples. The promotion of “contraception” and “choice issues” simply contribute to the total abolition of respect for innocent human life.

Also troubling is the “global family planning” agenda, the tragic results of which are playing out in China, where more than 13 million abortions – and many forced abortions – take place each year.

More than just advocating abortion on a remote web site, Students for Reproductive Justice actively promote the culture of death. Law students at Fordham, for instance, take part in “an ongoing escort program in partnership with Planned Parenthood.” Other activities include: “a research partnership with local pro-choice legal organizations,” and “brownbags with reproductive rights activists.” At DePaul University in Chicago, Law Students for Reproductive Justice are recognized as an official student organization with a professorial advisor.

It seems almost incomprehensible that such things, so blatantly against the law of God and nature, could be tolerated in any Catholic setting.

Why are these pro-abortion groups given free reign on these Catholic campuses? How much funding do they receive to promote abortion under the false pretense of “justice”?

Please support the timeless teachings of the Church, and the restoration of Catholic education. The abortion elephant in the Catholic classroom must be expelled.

The article in the Burlington Free Press starts out saying, "Christopher Edwards didn’t set out to direct a same-sex version of “Romeo and Juliet” at a Catholic school during Lent. It just worked out that..."

No. I don't think so. Such a twisted version of "Romeo and Juliet" doesn't just work out that way, out of the blue. There is a growing effort to legitimize same-sex sin, sadly, even on many Catholic campuses. Our culture needs prayers, badly.

Not only is Black a homosexual activist and screenwriter for the movie “Milk,” but he is also a board member of the American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER), which sponsored a federal court challenge to overturn Prop. 8 – the 2008 amendment that defends traditional marriage in California.

Over the years many Catholic colleges and universities have canceled the play due to its indecent, immoral and sinful content. TFP Student Action is asking its members to urge the president of Saint Mary’s to ban the play and avoid scandal.

In fact, Saint Mary’s web site states: “We're a Catholic, Lasallian, liberal arts college, and we're rooted in the life and work of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers and the patron saint of teachers. Our traditions and heritage inform everything we do.”

The right course of action is clear: To remain true to its Catholic heritage, Saint Mary’s should cancel the immoral show.

TFP (Tradition, Family, Property) Student Action launched the peaceful protest after discovering links to extreme pro-abortion groups including the National Organization for Women, the Center for Reproductive Rights, EMILY's List, and the Feminist Majority Foundation, on the resource page of the Alverno College Research Center for Women and Girls.

Planned Parenthood DELETED

TFP Student Action is glad to announce that Rosemont College – a Catholic institution – has removed Planned Parenthood from its web site, where it was listed under “career paths and opportunities.”

The listing was pulled less than 24-hours after the TFP launched its online protest, which generated over 2,500 emails and personal letters urging the president of Rosemont College, Mrs. Sharon Latchaw Hirsh, PhD, to remove the mention of Planned Parenthood.

“It’s a shame the listing was there to begin with, but I’m glad it was quickly taken down,” said TFP Student Action director John Ritchie. “Catholic colleges should be champions of virtue and staunch defenders of innocent life.”

Loss of faith at Catholic colleges

Catholic students who attend Catholic colleges and universities in the US are more likely to move away from the faith than to deepen their commitment, a new study shows.

The study found that 32% of Catholic students at Catholic schools attend Mass less frequently by the time they graduate, while only 7% attend more frequently. Roughly 8% of the graduates reported leaving the Catholic faith during their college years, while students who had entered the Catholic Church during their college years accounted for only 4% of the graduates. The survey found a strong trend away from accord with Church teachings on issues such as abortion and same-sex unions. The new study by Georgetown's Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) largely confirms previous reports from the Cardinal Newman Society calling attention to a "crisis in Catholic higher education." “Catholics should be alarmed by the significant declines in Catholic practice and fidelity at many of America’s Catholic institutions,” said Patrick Reilly, the resident of The Cardinal Newman Society. The authors of the CARA report agreed: “Regardless of where students begin their college journey, Catholic colleges should be helping students move closer to Christ, and certainly doing a better job of moving students toward the Catholic faith than secular colleges do.”

Michigan Catholic college posts, removes Planned Parenthood job opening

The career and counseling services office of a Michigan Catholic college is publicizing a job opening at Planned Parenthood. Aquinas College’s career services office posted the position of registered nurse at Planned Parenthood on November 12; the phone number listed as a contact number is that of Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan.

Aquinas College’s career services office “aids students in identifying unique skills, abilities, interests, and values in order to establish productive career paths and goals.” Founded in 1922 by Dominican sisters, the Grand Rapids-based college has 2,159 students, 1,872 of whom are undergraduates.

In 2005, the college’s newsletter had urged readers to “check out the following job opportunity publications available in Career and Counseling Services … Planned Parenthood Centers of West Michigan, Vice President of Resource Development.”

Aquinas College in Grand Rapids is not associated with Aquinas College in Nashville or Thomas Aquinas College in California, both of which appear on the Cardinal Newman Society’s list of 21 faithful Catholic colleges.

Earlier this week a CWN story called attention to the posting of a job opening at Planned Parenthood, at the career-service office of Aquinas College in Michigan. We’re happy to report that when CWN readers contacted the school’s top administrators to protest, they quickly apologized, explained that the job was listed by a student intern with inadequate training, and removed the listing immediately.
