Homosexual Advocacy Clubs Growing on Catholic Campuses

Homosexual Advocacy Clubs Growing on Catholic Campuses

A review of the web sites of 244 Catholic colleges and universities nationwide last week revealed that 107 of them — 43 percent — have homosexual advocacy clubs on campuses.

Three years ago, a review conducted by the same group, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP), revealed that 96 Catholic colleges had such clubs.

“Pro-homosexual lobby groups focus lots of effort on influencing the youth,” noted TFP Student Action Director John Ritchie. “Too many Catholic bishops are silent, sadly. The culture in general (laws, movies, Hollywood, Lady Gaga, etc.) is relentless in pushing to mainstream the homosexual lifestyle.”

The clubs don’t just celebrate homosexual orientation; they often promote behaviors and policies that directly contradict the teachings of the Catholic Church, such as same-sex marriage.

As a result, TFP has launched a petition drive, hoping to gather 100,000 signatures asking the presidents of the universities to uphold Catholic doctrine by disbanding the clubs. In six days, 17,803 signatures have been gathered.

”I have no intention to disparage anyone,” the petition reads. “I only wish to restore moral values and protect the next generation of Catholic leaders.”

BU students protest new condom policy

BU students protest new condom policy

A group of courageous pro-life college students are standing up for moral values in Illinois at Bradley University. Good for them. In the interview though, the pro-life student made a big mistake by saying that she was not opposed to the idea of "stopping pregnancy." Mistake, I hope, because if that is her real opinion, why is she calling herself pro-life? Hopefully, university officials will hear them loud and clear.

SCANDAL: Catholic Siena College Invites Radical Pro-Abortion Speaker Widney Brown

Why would any Catholic college welcome a radical pro-abortionist?

sign-the-protest

This scandal needs your immediate attention.  Siena College, a Catholic institution in upstate New York, has invited Widney Brown of Amnesty International to address students on November 14.  Brown has publicly promoted worldwide access to abortion and attacked the Catholic Church for its moral position against abortion and contraception.

In a 2010 article published by The Nation, Brown says:

“The Catholic Church… [is] not good on women’s rights. They are horrible on gay rights. And frankly, if you look at what they say about HIV and condoms, they have blood on their hands.”

The Globalization Studies Program at Siena College is welcoming Widney Brown, Senior Director of International Law and Policy at Amnesty International to speak about “The Prognosis for Human Rights in a Politically Changed World.”

One cannot both support abortion and profess to be truly Catholic. Therefore, the right course of action is clear.  To protect its Catholic identity, Siena College should rescind the invitation and uphold its Mission Statement:  “As a Catholic college, Siena seeks to advance not only the intellectual growth of its students, but their spiritual, religious and ethical formation as well.”

Amnesty International’s pro-abortion policy drew criticism from the Vatican.  In an interview with the National Catholic Register, Cardinal Renato Martino stated:  “Individuals and Catholic organizations must withdraw their support, because, in deciding to promote abortion rights, Amnesty International has betrayed its mission.”

Register your polite and respectful protest NOW.

Michael Moore Blasphemes God at Georgetown & Students Just Laugh!

How sad. The oldest Catholic university in America allows this leftist individual, Michael Moore, to speak on campus. Then, when he attacks the sacred honor of Our Lord Jesus Christ, calling him a homosexual, the audience which presumably includes many Catholic students and professors, just sits there and laughs. Can we even call this university Catholic anymore? Did Georgetown apologize for his comment? Did they demand some form of reparation from the speaker?

Cardinal O'Brien: Same-Sex "Marriage" is Attack Against Real Marriage

Cardinal Keith O'Brien of Edinburgh, Scotland, told political leaders that any attempt to recognize same-sex "marriage" under his watch will be “strenuously opposed” by the Catholic Church.

In a recent homily at a Mass for lawmakers, the Cardinal said that efforts to legalize homosexual "marriage" is nothing less than an attempt to “rewrite human nature,” and a “direct attack” against the family, and God's ordained marriage between one man and one woman.

We need more Cardinals like this to oppose evil.

VERY SHOCKING: Atheists sue to remove 9-11 Cross from Ground Zero

A group called American Atheists is suing to get the World Trade Center Cross removed from the 9-11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.

Shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, a construction worker found the Cross-shaped beams in the rubble of the World Trade Center. Immediately, the steel Cross became a powerful sign of hope for those who lost family members on Sept. 11, and for every American who loves God.

Now this beloved symbol is under attack from American Atheists. They are suing to get it removed! This must not happen. It would be a major sin and act of ingratitude to God to allow this Cross to be removed.

David Tyree calls same-sex "marriage" what it is: moral anarchy

NEW YORK -- Former New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree -- best known for making the famous "helmet catch" during Super Bowl XLII -- spoke out against homosexual "marriage" Wednesday, claiming it is the first step towards "anarchy."

In an interview with the National Organization for Marriage, Tyree also said two men or two women were incapable of raising a child, according to reports.

David Tyree should be commended for speaking the truth. The media will want to punish him for affirming what marriage really is -- but countless Americans stand with him and reject recent efforts in New York to redefine true marriage.

Jesuit Priest Defends Drag Show as Students Protest

Drag show sparks challenge to Catholic identity - The Spectator - News

Most shocking excerpts:

"I believe whole-heartedly that Seattle University is thoroughly Catholic," said Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Mike Bayard, S.J.

"To be Catholic at Seattle University means to be inclusive. Our Catholicism recognizes that all faiths are welcome here," said Bayard to The Spectator.

Still, even the Jesuits at Seattle U struggle with the more delicate issues of doctrine. Not all Jesuits agree, and many struggle to articulate their feelings on some of the more hot-button issues like homosexuality and abortion.

[The truth is the truth regardless of how you "feel." You can't just wake up in the morning and say, "well, today I feel that abortion is ok."]

"My understanding of a drag show is that it's men dressing up as women, now what is wrong with that?" said Bayard.

ALERT: Truth Shunned at two Catholic universities with pro-homosexual "More than a Monologue" series

ALERT: Attempt to Change the Truth at two Catholic Universities

In a new effort to adulterate Catholic moral teaching, a group of dissident Catholic intellectuals, activists and students plan to gather this Fall for a four-part lecture series themed: “More than a monologue: Sexual diversity and the Catholic Church.”

Two Catholic universities, Fordham University and Fairfield University, together with Yale Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary are sponsoring the event, which will feature speakers who oppose basic Catholic moral values. According to the invitation, “post-Catholics” will be in attendance.

Register your peaceful protest now

Details on the four events:

Fordham University, New York (Sept. 16)
Learning to Listen: Voices of Sexual Diversity and the Catholic Church
Union Theological Seminary, New York (Oct. 1)
Pro-Queer Life: Youth Suicide Crisis, Catholic Education, and the Souls of LGBTQ People
Yale Divinity School, Connecticut (Oct. 22)
Same-Sex Marriage and the Catholic Church: Voices from Law, Religion, and the Pews
Fairfield University, Connecticut (Oct. 29)
The Care of Souls: Sexual Diversity, Celibacy, and Ministry

Who are some of the speakers?

Sr. Jeannine Gramick, co-founder of New Ways Ministry, is scheduled to lecture at Catholic Fairfield University. As early as 1999, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a formal condemnation of Sr. Gramick, permanently prohibiting her from all ministry involving homosexuality. This dissident nun went so far as to blaspheme, stating that the holy friendship between Our Lord and Saint John is “for lesbian and gay people a hope for a blessing for same-sex relationships…”

Fr. Donald Cozzens, a Catholic priest whose published writings and interviews undermine priestly celibacy is another speaker. Celibacy is “burdensome and unnecessary,” his writings affirm. In a CNN commentary, Fr. Cozzens further states: “…it should be left to the individual priest and seminarian to determine whether or not he is blessed with the gift of celibacy.” He also received the “Priest of Integrity” award from Voice of the Faithful, a radical dissident group pushing for the destruction of the Church’s hierarchical structure.

Dr. Paul Lakeland is also listed to speak. Although he openly defies Catholic teaching, he runs the Center for Catholic Studies at Fairfield University. A former Jesuit priest, Dr. Lakeland supports abortion, contraception, women’s ordination and same-sex “marriage.”

More dissident speakers are on the roster, but the point is sufficiently clear: the event is a brazen attempt to undermine God’s law and turn the truth upside down.

Who’s funding the event?

The Arcus Foundation, which works to “advance LGBT equality, as well as to conserve and protect the great apes” is bankrolling the endeavor. This foundation pours millions of dollars into programs that, according to its web site, promote the “moral equality” of “LGBT rights” and the protection of monkeys.

Call it sin, not diversity

The homosexual movement would like to “change” the Church because Its holy doctrine is a roadblock to their radical goal: same-sex “marriage,” adoption privileges, and eventually, complete and unrestricted sexual anarchy. “There’s an alarming effort to force teenagers and college students to accept homosexual behavior as normal, even on many Catholic campuses,” observed TFP Student Action Director John Ritchie. “Never has so much sin been promoted in the name of diversity.”

According to TFP research, 41% of Catholic universities and colleges allow pro-homosexual clubs to freely operate on their campuses. (See research report)

“It’s so basic, but worth repeating. God created male and female: Adam and Eve. Tampering with that reality – which is rooted in nature itself – only favors moral confusion and sinful activity,” said Ritchie. “Behavior against nature has a name. It’s called sin, not diversity.”

Bishops’ decision on gay clubs spells ‘end of the Catholic school system in Ontario’: priest | LifeSiteNews.com

Bishops’ decision on gay clubs spells ‘end of the Catholic school system in Ontario’: priest | LifeSiteNews.com

TORONTO, April 26, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Ontario bishops’ decision to encourage the province’s publicly-funded Catholic schools to set up a network of clubs ostensibly directed at combating bullying related to sexual orientation “spells the end of the Catholic school system in Ontario,” says a leading priest-commentator in the province.

Fr. Alphonse de Valk, editor of Catholic Insight magazine, says that an April 15th memo from the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario (ACBO) is effectively a “green light” to start gay clubs in the Catholic schools.

In that memo and an accompanying ‘messaging’ document sent to the province’s Catholic educational organizations, ACBO President Archbishop Thomas Collins of Toronto said they “encourage” the Catholic high schools to set up groups whose “primary goal ... is to combat bullying related to sexual orientation.”

“It would seem that Archbishop Collins has been under tremendous pressure from the Ministry. He seems to have given in to their demands,” said Fr. de Valk. “I certainly hope that the Archbishop will reconsider this because, if in fact it is an agreement to have gay clubs, it spells the end of the Catholic school system in Ontario.”

The priest explained that the only remaining right Catholic trustees hold in the province is to set policy, because the government has taken over the right to tax Catholics, and school board administration has assumed the right to hire and fire personnel.

“If they surrender the right to set policy and submit to the Department of Education and the Premier of Ontario to set policy for them, it’s the end of the Catholic school system in Ontario,” he said.

“If the Premier insists that he will set the policy, then that’s the end of the Catholic schools. The Premier is openly anti-Catholic and opposed to the teaching of the Church.”

The bishops’ April 15th memo was sent out to trustees by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association, which co-wrote it. The documents do not appear to be available online through official channels, but have been published online by LSN.

The bishops’ memo says they are establishing a committee, to begin work by the end of April, that will “establish a framework for these groups, including a common name, to assist Catholic school boards with this anti-bullying initiative.”

The government, however, has expressly forbidden such groups from helping homosexually-inclined students to reform their sexuality – a fact that has some Catholic parents concerned about the bishops’ approach to the issue.

The groups are expected to be ready for launch in the schools by September, though the bishops note that some schools may “have the ability to offer such student-led groups right now.”

Pro-family groups have warned that the Ontario government’s equity and inclusive education strategy, if implemented in the Catholic schools without clear safeguards, would empower board employees sympathetic to the homosexual cause and provide a foothold for homosexual activists in the Catholic system.

Fr. de Valk said the bishops’ approach will ultimately be damaging to students because “the homosexuals will overwhelm them.” “One strong individual who insists on his rights will drive the whole rest of them into a corner,” he explained.

Communist Ernesto Cardenal at Vanderbilt University

They call Fr. Ernesto Cardenal a wonderful poet when, in fact, he should more accurately be described as a radical communist.

Since when has communism helped the poor?
Look at Cuba. Boats loaded with fleeing Cubans still reach US shores to get away from the misery, and yet this man is welcomed into the halls of academia at Vanderbilt to spread his flawed atheist, Marxist, Darwinist views. What a shame.

Radical Marxist Priest Ernesto Cardenal to Speak at Xavier U: Catholic Students Ask Why

Radical Marxist Priest Ernesto Cardenal to Speak at Xavier U: Catholic Students Ask Why

On April 16th, Xavier University in Cincinnati will welcome Father Ernesto Cardenal, a noted Liberation Theologian, Marxist politician and rebel against Papal authority. Father Cardenal will be reading poetry of his own composition, included a poem inspired by Darwin titled “The Origin of Species,” in the campus Bellarmine Chapel.

Besides his dissident theological opinions, Father Cardenal also worked closely with the avowedly Marxist and patently anti-Catholic Sandinista revolutionary movement in Nicaragua. His exploits, including the founding of a revolutionary commune, which was later converted into a communist guerrilla force,1 garnered the attention of the Sandinista leadership. After the successful revolution, he was appointed to the position of Minister of Culture in the newly-formed Sandinista regime.

The question remains: Why is this man being invited to a Catholic university? What possible reason could there be?

After 20,000 complaints Jesuit university still promoting Planned Parenthood | LifeSiteNews.com

SEATTLE, Washington, Tue Apr 12, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Seattle University, a Catholic, Jesuit-run university in Seattle, Washington, is still promoting student internships at Planned Parenthood on their website, despite 20,927 complaints having been directed to the school, according to the pro-life organization TFP Student Action.

TFP Student Action began a protest petition in February urging Seattle University President Fr. Stephen Sundborg to remove Planned Parenthood and all other pro-abortion groups from the university’s website, and to stop promoting internships to the nation’s largest abortion provider.

According to the University’s website, public affairs majors are required to participate in an internship with a public or nonprofit organization to fulfill degree requirements. The website provides a list of 29 such organizations with whom public affairs students can intern, among them Planned Parenthood of Western Washington.

Marxist to Visit Catholic Xavier University

You really can't make this stuff up. Fr. Ernesto Cardenal, the Marxist liberation theologian who served in the violent Sandinista regime of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua during the 1980s, is visiting Xavier University. Cardenal was captured in a now famous photograph asking for Pope John Paul II's blessing as the Holy Father arrived in Managua in 1983 and instead got a stern reprimand. He was later suspended from the priesthood. Details of his visit are available on the always curious Xavier University activities calendar:

"Father Ernesto Cardenal, one of the greatest living poets from Latin America, is a priest from Nicaragua. He was an active member of the Sandinista movement. As minister of culture he was also one of three priests to hold a position in the Sandinista government. The Academic Service Learning Semesters and Voices of Solidarity will be hosting a bilingual poetry reading to introduce Fr. Cardenal's latest book: The Origin of Species and Other Poems. The event will take place in the afternoon."

The event is also promoted on the website of Xavier University's Bellarmine Chapel, home parish of the head of the troubled archdiocesan Social Action office. In 1999, the Miami Herald published a "Where Are They Now?" piece on Cardenal and other Sandinista radicals.

Planned Parenthood Still Promoted at Catholic Seattle University Despite 20,927 Complaints

Over 20,000 students and parents have politely asked Seattle University, a Catholic Jesuit-run university, not to promote student internships for Planned Parenthood. The formal request also calls for the removal of several web site links that channel students to abortion advocacy groups.

Despite the large number of complaints, however, Planned Parenthood is still listed on the university’s web site and the pro-abortion links remain up and running. Abortion advocacy groups currently listed under “get involved” include: Feminist Majority Foundation, Legal Momentum, National Organization for Women (NOW), and National Organization for Women, Seattle Chapter.

More Pro-Life Leaders Speak Out

Since TFP Student Action started its peaceful protest in February, a group of 16 national pro-life leaders, led by The Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) and Students for Life of America (SFLA), sent a letter to the president of Seattle University calling on him to put an end to the institution’s connections to Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion organizations.

Update -- 03/29/11: YouTube removed our video of this campaign at Brown without any explanation. We will keep you posted on new developments.

What we faced today at Brown University, an Ivy League university, had the flavor of a religious persecution. As we peacefully campaigned, about 250 frenzied pro-homosexual students gathered to scream, spit, taunt, insult, assault, and even attempt to destroy our traditional marriage banner. Only with supernatural protection, and a strong police presence, did TFP volunteers manage to complete the campaign without serious injury.

TFP Rally Disrupted by Pro-Homosexual Blasphemers Yelling "God is Dead"

TFP Rally Disrupted by Pro-Homosexual Blasphemers Yelling "God is Dead

Before I tell you about the aggressive blasphemers dressed in black who disrupted our rally, let me briefly mention that the tour for traditional marriage took us to Towson, the White Marsh Mall and Timonium on Thursday. At all three locations, the campaign had wide exposure and great support.

In Towson, as we packed the van, a lady in the parking lot handed me a wad of cash: “Go get something for lunch,” she said, “and come back soon.” Very generous. God bless her.

Hunt Valley Mall

This morning, Norman Fulkerson and Gregory Escaro joined us for the campaign. It was good to have the extra help. At the Hunt Valley Mall traffic was a bit slow and a number of people passed with an apathetic “what-do-I-care” attitude.

Nevertheless, loads of cars and trucks honked in support. So much so that a mall manager came out, concerned that our “political” signs might lead patrons to think that their establishment supports marriage. “We don’t get involved in politics,” she said.

Well, doesn’t marriage trump politics?

Next stop: Reisterstown Plaza Shopping Center in Baltimore. Here the support for traditional marriage was noticeably stronger than our previous location. Most of the blacks we met were extremely supportive and expressive.

Blasphemers in Black Yell “God is Dead”
(Caution: This part is troubling)

The homosexual movement’s well-oiled propaganda machine jumps through hurdles to find “nice” poster personalities to advance the acceptance of the immoral lifestyle. The more they hide the ugliness of sin, the more they advance their cause. For that reason, on television and so forth, a studied veneer of normalcy is tailor-made to avoid shocking American sensibilities.

But, today, on Route 45 in Timonium, the real face of the homosexual movement was visible to the public, this time, without the veneer.

CPAC Needs Moral Leadership

CPAC Needs Moral Leadership

Just as a drop of poison can spoil a crystalline glass of water, a measure of compromise on non-negotiable principles might destroy the meaning of “conservative” at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest annual gathering of its kind.

This year a pro-homosexual group called GOProud was allowed to co-sponsor the event, prompting a boycott by several prominent conservative groups. Not surprisingly, the liberal media gave GOProud ample coverage.

The American TFP decided to attend the event with a specific message to CPAC leaders and attendees: Don’t Betray Principles. During the February 10-12 conference, TFP Student Action volunteers manned a well-visited booth and distributed thousands of leaflets urging CPAC participants to defend objective moral law and oppose the homosexual movement.

Sainte Chapelle: Faith Carved in Stone

Sainte Chapelle: Faith Carved in Stone

Masterpiece of Temperance

Built by Saint Louis IX of France, this chapel reflects an extraordinary innocence of soul. We could call this chapel the Chapel of Innocence. Because a soul must be profoundly innocent to conceive this.

Why? Because this chapel causes enthusiasm, no doubt; an enthusiasm without agitation, without overpowering sensations, without producing anything intemperate. The chapel is a masterpiece of temperance. Everything about it is beautiful, magnificent. The enthusiasm the chapel instills is recollected and prayerful.

We can say that each stained glass window is a prayer, each stone is a prayer, each gothic arch is a prayer, surrounding the center of prayer: the altar, where the Holy Sacrifice of Calvary is renewed. Above the altar is a reliquary to display the crown of thorns of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Walking barefoot, asking pardon for his own sins, Saint Louis carried the relics with great devotion from the border of France to Paris. He displayed the contrition of the innocent. As king, he represented his people and asked God to also pardon their sins.

Good News: Madonna University Cancels Planned Parenthood Speaker

Why would any Catholic university bring a Planned Parenthood speaker to campus?

Well, that's what students at Catholic Madonna University were wondering when the sign-language studies department at Madonna University, a Catholic institution, invited pro-abortion speaker Christine Gannon to teach a workshop on sexual issues.

Thank God, however, the event was canceled after good pro-life students on campus and TFP Student Action spoke up. The online brochure announcing the February 26 event was also removed.

Madonna University president, Sister Rose Marie Kujawa, confirmed the good news to students in an email:

"I wanted to inform you as soon as possible that there will be no speaker from Planned Parenthood at Madonna University (including the Orchard Lake or any other MU extension)," the email stated . "You can share this with our Campus Ministry students. I am sure this will bring relief to their parents as well. Thank you for your prayers."

Over the years many Catholic colleges and universities have canceled the play due to its indecent, immoral and sinful content. TFP Student Action is asking its members to urge the president of Saint Mary’s to ban the play and avoid scandal.

In fact, Saint Mary’s web site states: “We're a Catholic, Lasallian, liberal arts college, and we're rooted in the life and work of Saint John Baptist de la Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers and the patron saint of teachers. Our traditions and heritage inform everything we do.”

The right course of action is clear: To remain true to its Catholic heritage, Saint Mary’s should cancel the immoral show.

Human Rights Campaign Invited to Georgetown University

Saint Ignatius, pray for us!

Georgetown University plans to host a pro-homosexual lecture on campus on Tuesday, February 1, in Copley Hall. The event is described like this:

"With Congress' recent repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, LGBTQ rights have expanded to greater lengths than ever before, and no organization has played a bigger role in this development than the Human Rights Campaign, America's largest lesbian & gay advocacy organization. Joe Solmonese, as President of the Human Rights Campaign, has helped to usher in a new era for the LGBTQ community, and the Georgetown University Lecture Fund, LGBTQ Resource Center, and Georgetown Pride welcome him for a lecture and Q&A on the future of the gay rights movement."

This event spells out the sad reality that on many Catholic campuses, especially at Georgetown, perennial Catholic morality is often rejected, and the immoral agenda of the homosexual movement is welcomed.

In fact, in 2003, TFP Student Action members were threatened with arrest for giving out literature which included passages from the Catechism of the Catholic Church against homosexual sin. The irony of the incident was incredible because they were using the designated "free speech" zone when it happened...

2011 March for Life Reflects Youthful Resolve to Stop Abortion

Massive 38th March for Life Reflects Youthful Resolve to Stop Abortion

When abortion activist Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL, saw last year’s March for Life in Washington, D.C. she was utterly astounded: “I just thought, my gosh, they are so young,” she told Newsweek. “There are so many of them, and they are so young.”

Abortion advocates like Keenan must be uneasy with the "so-many-so-young" trend. However, as leaders of the pro-abortion movement get older and focus on retirement, the pro-life movement is ever more youthful, numerous and vibrant. And nowhere is the resilience and vitality of the pro-life movement more apparent than at the annual March for Life, where hundreds of thousands of Americans stand against the slaughter of the unborn.

Filthy V-Monologues at Georgetown University

It is hard to imagine a production more degrading to woman than The V-Monologues by feminist Eve Ensler. However, despite its anti-Catholic message of indecency, Georgetown University is scheduled to host the play on February 4.

St. Ignatius must turn in his grave.

How many indecencies hide behind "free speech" to spread? Just because we have free speech doesn't make the V-Monologues good. The play is still bad and must be opposed.

Here's the mention on Georgetown's web site.

Catholic Marquette University Hires Partial Birth Abortion Politician Russ Feingold

Catholic Marquette University Hires Partial Birth Abortion Politician

Despite his 100% pro-abortion record from NARAL, the former U.S. Senator Russ Feingold was invited to join the faculty of Marquette University, a Catholic institution, as a visiting professor of law. The event is understandably causing scandal.
